Welcome to McAuliffe School of Dance

McAuliffe School Of Dance is a premier dance school which dedicates its time and passion to dance students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. MSOD aims to provide a nurturing environment for all students to explore the exciting world of dance. In each lesson students will not only learn technique and performance qualities but respect for themselves and others. The studio will be a place where students are encouraged and have a healthy relationship with their dance endeavors’ and can strive to be better with each lesson they attend.

Sophie McAuliffe, founder and owner, has devoted her life to dance, having spent over 20 years overseas as a professional performer in theatres, cruise ships, theme parks and international tours as well as T.V appearances within Australia and Asia.

Beginning her own dance education at the age of 4 years old in Kyogle NSW, Sophie went on to learn ballet, tap, jazz and national character in Casino. Her passion for dance also lead to her learning Irish dance in Lismore, completing exams in all disciplines. Her love for performing saw Sophie excel at local and interstate eisteddfods which cemented her choice to take her dancing into a professional career.

At the age of 16, Sophie auditioned for the Queensland Dance School of Excellence in Brisbane. It was here she completed her senior R.A.D ballet exams and successfully auditioned for Brent Street Studios in Sydney. After completing a Certificate 5 in Performing Arts at ED5 International Studio in 2008, Sophie secured her first professional contract on Sydney Show Boats. It was from there she travelled the world working in Asia and Europe with companies such as Star Cruises, MSC Cruises, Lotte World Korea, Glow Show Productions and Dian Heaton Dancers to name a few.

Throughout her professional dance career, Sophie was a soloist on three of her contracts and dance captain and dancer manager on her contract in China.

As well as developing her own studio in Casino, Sophie is also completing studies to be able to teach students who have special needs or other challenges.

While she has enjoyed performing for many years herself, she can not wait to share this passion, joy and experience with as many others as possible.
